WATER FOUNTAINS & FENG SHUI
Water is an important element for improving prosperity, creativity, fame
and attracting romance in feng shui. When we use water for feng shui ,
it is placed in the direction of the building that needs the element of
water to attract and retain the positive “qi” that supports our ability
to create prosperity or romance. The proper use of water is important
to achieve these positive results.
The following guidelines will help you achieve these positive results:
· The amount of water needed is in proportion to the size of the space. 5% of the sq. footage of the space = gallons required. An average room can use about 5 gallons of water. A small table fountain will usually hold no more than a couple of cups of water providing a remedy for an area about the size of an average desk.
· When water is needed outside the minimum amount can vary from 40-100 gallons
depending on the sq ft. of the building.
· The water must be clean and moving
· The container must not be covered, so the water interacts with the “qi”
· The earth element reduces the amount of water so using a ceramic or stone container filled with stones will lessen the effect of the water. Metal containers are more supportive to the water. This is important in spaces where the amount of water is limited.
· The water does not need fish or any decoration, nor are fish beneficial to the results. This is why many people believe that fish are good luck when in actuality it is the water in the container that will bring them prosperity.
· Adding an ultraviolet light element or reverse osmosis feature will attract and destroy airborne bacteria and viruses
Recently healthcare, hospitality and commercial facilities have discovered the positive attributes of interior water features for improving health and well being mentally and physically. The current research shows that the addition of a water feature can re-oxygenate and renew the interior air “qi”. This renewal of this “qi” is currently being researched for its health benefits. This is especially beneficial for those working or living in enclosed buildings where it is impossible to get fresh air.. Water fountains with UV features will be featured here along with upcoming additional data on the health benefits of water for interior environments. The UV light will destroy airborne bacteria and viruses that are captured from the air by the circulating water.
In traditional feng shui , the placement of water is determined by the layout of the building’s “qi”. This direction can be a permanent placement or can be changed by the yearly influences of moving “qi”. Generally from the years 2004-2023 adding water to the directions east and southwest will benefit the occupant’s prosperity and relationships.
